    My guess is that it's so he can opt out and resign when we have more cap room.

    Delfino can't because he was waived.

    Waiving teams (Rockets) can't re-sign a waived player unless he clears waivers (enters free agency).

    Since the waiver wire is 10 days, we won't know if Delfino can be re-signed for 3 or 4 more days assuming no other team put in a waiver claim AND assuming he wants to re-sign with us.
