The UIL should eliminate the two-division format (Division 1 and Division 2 for each class level). There should be only one champion for each class (5A, 4A, 3A, etc.) just like basketball, baseball, soccer, and other sports.

If Katy and Lamar both win their respective state title games, who's better?

I'm all for it, but the UIL and the schools would see it as a large loss of revenue since it means half the # of playoff games, and they really don't want to extend the season into the next year.

Or start it it closer to the middle of August, just as school is starting in most districts.

Let more teams win, half of them will be working at 7-11 in a few months. Give them something.

Katy and Allen finished 2 and 3, respectively in the ESPN top 25.
