Wow. Had no idea he was still alive. My Dad was a HUGE Brubeck fan and passed on the appreciation of his music (and jazz in general) to me.

    RIP to a FANTASTIC musician.

I was lucky enough to see him perform five years ago in Houston at a synagogue. The place was packed and he put on a great concert with a wonderful mix of jazz and classical that really demonstrated his range.

I was happy to be able to see one of the living legends. A lot of these guys - Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, etc. - have doing it for decades and don't tour often. If you get the chance, they are must-sees for the music fan who appreciates living legends.

he died the day before his 92nd b-day.

    what a talent.

as great of an intro and as awesome of a pianist he is , I can't help but love the drum solo segment in Take Five...

    DAMN DAMN DAMN!

He was on my "see in concert quickly before they die" list. Guess I'll have to mark that one off. *sigh*

Mr.Brubeck was a great musician. Take five in my opinion is the best jazz song in the history of mankind.
