TORONTO - With training camp still a week away, prized prospect Jonas Valanciunas has injured his calf, the Raptors said Monday.

Valanciunas suffered a left calf strain, which the team said was not thought to be serious.

No timeline was set for his return.

The 6-foot-11 centre has been playing nearly non-stop since being selected by the Raptors fifth overall in the 2011 draft.

He competed in the Lithuanian league last season, helped the national team qualify for the London Olympics and then was the youngest member of Lithuania's squad, seeing sporadic action due to some puzzling coaching decisions.

Valanciunas was to meet with the local media for the first time in nearly 15 months on Monday, but now likely won't do so until Oct. 1, the team's official media day.

The Raptors start training camp in Halifax on Oct. 2.

he had like 10 small injuries since being drafted. The previous one just a couple months ago.
No one just notices because ESPN doesn't write about them.

Valanciunas plays a bit reckless and non stop, and small injuries always follow guys who play that way.

    Until I hear it's a big deal, i'll assume it's nothing.

It's just a scratch. He'll walk it off.

Dang, it's not serious. It would be nice to have him miss half a season.
