Doing my research but nothing I find refers to how safe it is. Mainly I was wondering if it is around dangerous nieghborhoods or intersections.

there's actually a fair amount of crime in the heights, especially around its fringes.

but the bike trail probably is safe

I live in the Heights and take this trail all the time. I have never encountered anything that would make me feel unsafe. Now when I take it all the way to UofH and go down to the bayou trail that first part can feel a little scary. You are under the bridges on a trail riding and there are some homeless that crash there. But I figure that since you are most likely going 12 or more miles and hour, most people cant run that fast....

But the heights trail, I wouldn't worry. If you do just start off at the court house by Washington and ride the bayou, I see cops on horseback out there a lot.

I meant to say in that last sentence..

"If you do feel unsafe, then start off at the courthouse"

It's safe particularly if you stay between 11th and 610N. FYI the trail is blocked under 610N @ tc jester so if you are going to continue north you will have to go above.
