After seeing my vandy team take down number 4 Alabama on Saturday night.. I was thinking they looked pretty overrated.. I was curious what teams in college basketball does everyone think are a lot of hype right now and will be proven to be overrated later in the season..
Not sure about overrated.....but OSU is the most underrated team in America. They'are at least top 13-15.
Man mduke, you make it hard to rip the Sooners when you give so much love to the Pokes. That was a hell of a game tonight. I really don't think either team is overrated, they're just both top 10. We'll probably get beat down in Norman. In other good Cowboy news though... How 'bout Rashaun coming back for net year?
Not sure if it means Duke's consistently overrated, or if the best team usually doesn't win the NCAA tournament... but Duke has finished #1 in the polls 4 consecutive years before the tournament. They've added 1 championship banner. Probably a bit of both...
A couple things from the game: 1. It speaks volumes for the rest of the team, besides to 2 main guns....when your best 2 scorers, who get you almost 40 a night only score a combined 12 points and you only lose by 2 on a controversial call, hmm..... 2. OSU is one of the few teams in my mind that can beat OU on a consistent basis. They have great defensive guards, and everyone knows if you can slow down Hollis and Ebi you have a great shot at winning.....
If the tournament wasn't single elimination you'd see much different results. Even if it there were best of 3 or 5 series, you wouldn't see near as many upsets. It's basically the team that peaks at the right time, though that is what makes it so exciting IMHO. B
Alabama isn't overrated, they just suck on the road. They do have a 27 home game win streak, 3rd longest in the nation. Going back 2 years, they're like 37-1 at home, the last home loss against Arkansas. Still, they've only lost by 3 points total this year.....to unranked teams......
The rest of the Sooners really did step up. Bookout was incredible and the reason you were still in the game. I'm jealous we didn't get him. Hollis has always struggled in Stillwater. His career average there now after 4 games is under 6 ppg. It looked like Melvin was frustrating him really bad all game.
Yeah....the last 2 years Hollis and Ebi have something like 25 combined points. Sickening. On another note....why can't all rivalries be as classy as OU-OSU in basketball?
Listen to the replay, the buzzer hadn't sounded yet and I'm pretty sure that the refs judge those things by listening for the horn. The ball was definitely in the air when it sounded. Also, before the play the announcers said several times there was a 4.4 second differential between the shot and game clocks. Look at the game clock in that picture, it reads 5.1. If there was supposed to be a 4.4 second difference, Vic got it up in time. But, who the hell knows? Kelvin should have gotten tee'd up anyway.
Yeah, he should've gotten a T. The refs knew they f-ed up, so they didn't give him one. But it's over now.....just wanted to post that pic for those who haven't seen it. And who knows if they could even hear the horn in that place? Of the few games I've been to in Gallagher-Iba(and they were against crap teams, no less, like Yale, etc.) it was extremely loud.....I can't even imagine what it would be like in Bedlam
Yeah, during Bedlam games or when Kansas is in town, it is unreal in there. You can't hear a thing. Seriously the loudest environment I've ever been in. Of course the crowd isn't as loud when the Pokes have the ball so maybe they could hear it. Anyway, it's over now like you said and I do feel lucky that we pulled it out. Like I said, I will be amazed if we don't get beat in Norman.
