Thanks Bima. So my understanding of the cap holds was correct. I've felt for the past week that Lee was going to remain a Rocket and that they were making moves to avoid losing his bird rights while they did everything else.

Based on Morey's comments about types of players you add and let go when you do or don't have a star, I think if he re-signs Lee there is no question he knows he is getting Dwight.

Did these BYC stipulations not apply to the Marcus Camby trade?

Just throwing this out there, but what are the odds that we have a trade worked out with Chicago involving Asik and Lee?

Here are the dots as I have connected them.

CLee is signing with Houston once the offer sheet has been completed with Asik.

Morey already has a deal in place for Dwight and is 95% sure that the trade will go through.

CLee is getting nervous so Morey gave him a deadline when he will sign him.

Not a bad lineup if you ask me.

    Lin/Douglas
    Lee/Lamb
    Parsons/White
    Patterson/D-Mo
    Dwight/Asik

This technically doesn't mean it won't be us that signs him

Bima - is Feigen correct that we will have $9 million in cap space, even after signing Lin and Asik?

They also could take on some of the Magic’s burdensome contracts, with roughly $9 million of cap space available even if the Rockets add Asik to Lin, not including the room that could be opened by trading or releasing players with non-guaranteed contracts.

Doubtful. Asik has already agreed to terms, and it seems unlikely that Chicago matches. We wouldn't need to give Lee away for nothing.

Zero. If the Bulls match the offer sheet they can't trade him to us and even if they could it would suck because we'd get hit with the poison pill nature of the structure.

I'm not seeing what's to like about getting another PF that costs us $$ unless a pick is involved.
