Would you consider Chuck Taylor's a minimalist shoe?

I'd think flip flops would be minimalist shoes.

Single color Vans slip-on is the most minimalist "shoe" I can think of at the moment.

Technically they are...but i dont think many would consider them minimalist because they are an old shoe and minimalist shoes are a new movement.

The sole is extremely flexible, in every angle.

    Toebox is rounder.

The canvas/lace area doesn't stretch a lot, but you can spread it wider/higher fairly easily.

Sole is zero drop, which means the heel is even with the forefoot, even straight across.

It fits the minimalist description, but there's room for improvement, not the best example of a minimalist shoe.

Is it possible to purchase chucks and change the sole without getting all uncomfortable? I've worn it since I was a kid and it would sometimes hurt my feet and calf when I run with them. I've sort of stopped wearing them in the last couple of years because as I get older, my feet just couldn't take the beating any longer.
