Is it possible that the particular arena was built in the suburb or somewhere else not in downtown?

verse, dime in the phone sense is about spreading word.

Asian, dime in the beautiful sense is about being a Ten on a scale of 1-10.

10 assist is like a dollar.
    7 dimes ain't shyt.
    9 assist ain't shyt.
But when you have 10 dimes. Thats nice stats

The guy that said law enforcement is correct. When an informant gives up a crook it has long been referred to as "dropping a dime" on the guy.....making the phone call to turn him in......when someone made the connection that an informant makes an ASSIST in the bust... dropping dimes moved to BB and an assist became a dime.

I've never heard the police correlation, but what I have been told in the past is very similar to that story. It means you're making a call or you're calling someone's number. Ten assists means you called someone's number (to shoot) 10 times. You made 10 calls, so you dropped 10 dimes. Must be old 'cause it costs a bit more to make calls now... :)

A lot of hip hop writers started calling assists "dimes." I remember a columnist for _Slam_ magazine claiming to be the first to use "dimes" for assists.

I like it cuz it has lots of figurative possibilities.
