Another group I've been listening to a lot lately is The Monkees. Now, you get past the TV show, and the fact that they used other songwriters and session musicians (which, BTW, the Beach Boys and Byrds did, as well), and there is some great music there. Especially Headquarters, the one that they played all the instruments on: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/PG-kb3pwBq8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

last nine in my 2011 review: yuck - yuck collapse into now - r.e.m. lasers - lupe fiasco angles - the strokes nine types of light - tv on the radio wasting light - foo fighters belong - the pains of being pure at heart give till it's gone - ben harper helplessness blues - fleet foxes
Animal Collective - Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished Radiohead - Amnesiac Wilco - Being There
Yuck is ok, but i am enjoying Belong a lot. Stoned and Dethroned is one of my favorite albums and Belong kinda hardens back to that.
Yes, they were great, and another group I really enjoyed in concert. Not every band can bring the harmonies live that they can produce in the studio (I can think of a couple of famous groups that were lousy harmonizing live, at least when I saw them), but The Byrds could. Plus, you had John Sebastian playing that 12-string guitar!
taking a break from the 2011 review to listen to ode to sunshine - delta spirit. leroy, i love you so much for turning me onto these guys.
This girl reminds me so much of a young selena. In a few years she is going to have the world at her feet if she stays true to the music she is doing. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Ame5STlPmiQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Just going through different Beatles' solo CDs- still: Lennon- Mind Games McCartney- Ram Harrison- Dark Horse Starr- well, he really only has the two that I listen to- Ringo and Goodnight Vienna- mainly the 3 principal songwriters
Animal Collective - 2011 Live Compilation Radiohead - My Iron Lung EP Uncle Tupelo - Anodyne The AnCo album was one that I got off the Collected Animals discussion board. It's bootleg quality but not bad; 15 songs with 10 being new ones. It'll be interesting to see if these songs make it on the 2012 studio album.
Animal Collective - Campfire Songs Radiohead - Hail to the Thief Wilco - Sky Blue Sky I may have to change my opinion on HTTT as I see where jo mama is coming from on that album. The album is still a little long and there are 2 songs on there that if they were deleted would make it a perfect album. Nonetheless, it is probably Radiohead's most underrated album.

I have no idea why I've never listened to their stuff before. Those songs are great. Thanks for posting that, I'll definitely check out some of their stuff and pick up an album or two. As for what's playing on my player right now, I'm listening to the Undun album by The Roots.
