Let's sign Brandon Roy and Yao Ming...

(I thought BRoy was doing well and playing pickup ball?)

B-Roy is a class act. He could have signed with another team But instead did Portland a HUGE favor.

I called that last year. He wasn't going to be able to play pro-ball with no knees.

Yeah. Poor guy. When he was healthy he was awesome. especially when he scored 50 on us.

I wonder what the settlement with the Blazers was. I'm sure he didn't just walk away from all that money.

    Ugh. So unfair.

Such is the case in life (and I get that). But as a basketball fan, this just flat out SUCKS.

[rQUOTEr]If league docs concur Brandon Roy isn't fit to play, his contract comes of Blazers books 1 year from date of official retirement.

If Roy gets medical retirement, but then comes back and plays in at least 10 games in a season, his contract goes back on Blazers' books.[/rQUOTEr]

    Thanks, hsf09.

Good for him. You can't put your health over your desire to be great. Considering he made and will likely still make a ton of money, retirement makes too much sense. Moreover, if he's really addicted to basketball, he is very well suited to get into coaching early, and could be a young head coach in this league in the next 5-10 years and stay involved in the game, at a lucrative level, that way.

He was so good at one point. Nearly unstoppable. Man, what a shame. I feel for the Blazers.

This has got to be the saddest story of a superstar in the NBA in a while.

Roy played with so much heart. I am actually sad.

It's a medical retirement. Both sides benefit. He gets 100% of the money owed to him while the Blazers are covered by insurance.
