Ugh. This is a team that needs to rebuild, you have a young promising closer now with a 1.84 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP and about a strikeout per inning... and they're going to take him out of that role for a mediocre veteran.

I know Melancon will still pitch, but if he's the closer of the future (and by far the best reliever on staff now), I don't see any logic to removing him from that role. Especially with this team.

Typical manager baloney. Melancon has been leaps and bounds above anything Lyon has given the team - sub-2 ERA, nearly a K per inning and a 3/1 K/BB ratio. But Lyon is a veteran, so he obviously is more qualified than the rookie. I thought Boston was a more progressive organization than most - hopefully those are just empty platitudes.

Oh, and Melancon's on my fantasy team.

Eh, Mills said what he's supposed to say out of respect to the veteran. In fact, he's right...Lyon was pretty good last year.

If his save opp comes after Melancon worked 2 or 3 days in a row, no worries. If he starts stealing save opps from MM, then that's another story.

If you haven't been watching the Stros play much this season...it maybe time to give them a glance.

    Screw you Puma...

If that fan would have cost Pence that catch, I would be on my way to open up a can.

    Of course that would happen.

    Should've been a walk.

Owned again by Puma. Well, sort of. Still great stuff from Bud and we're winning.

Not that it really matters, but the no-hitter is over.

I have to admit, Berkman doing this is kind of irritating. We did the right thing but if it wasn't for Lee in left, I think Puma would be over there and Wallace at first. Still, wouldn't have made that much of a difference in the big picture.

I was tough on him because he set such a high standard for himself and I still think he gave up a bit last season but class act and one of my favorites of this past decade.
