I've talked to a few people recently who have brought up the original Mortal Kombat flick, which I thought was pretty decent. I also like the Resident Evil movies for what they are- mindless horror-action.

Any other good video-game based movies? For the heck of it, anime, p*rn, web series or whatever counts.

    Lara Croft Series

    DOA: Dead Or Alive

    Wing Commander

    Street Fighter the Movie

    Double Dragon

All great Lazy Saturday/Sunday Movies IMO. I think they are wildly entertaining.

I thought the Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia movies were decent. I liked the first Mortal Kombat movie as a kid.

The Resident Evil series, Silent Hill, Hitman, and Max Payne were OK. They're not good movies but can still be entertaining.

    Prince of Persia definitely.
Didn't like the others, haven't watched Hitman though.

I would say the first Mortal Kombat movie and Max Payne were probably the best of the bunch. Resident Evil was hit or miss. There was a pretty good Mortal Kombat TV show on for a little while. Prince of Persia was okay and reasonably faithful to the story and style from Sands of Time.

The worst might be House of the Dead. The inserts from the old low res games certainly didn't help. On the plus side it had some Erica Durance boobies.

These things usually work better the other way around...

This was the inspiration for Leisure Suit Larry.

Wait, what? There's a movie based on DOA?

... are all the ladies dressed like in the game and similarly endowed?

Anyway, I've liked the Resident Evil movies. That's about it, though.

There are some movies that are entertaining (usually for the wrong reasons), but none that I'd really call good.

I did like a lot about Silent Hill, but in hindsight, it did get a lot wrong. I think that is a decent a direction to take though. Only wish they had a decent script to work with...like maybe one from the games or something.
