Vipers lose 111-119. McNeal led his team in all 3 categories. 25 pts, 11 rebounds, 6 assists.

Oh and crazy stat, the vipers took 43 three pointers!!!!!!!! they went 15-43 from the 3.

Wow, that three point line is historically bad... 28 missed 3 pointers and you lose by 8. Great shot selection there.

43 of the 80 field goals were three pointers. That's over half!!!

Yeah terrible shot selection. They've got a lot of really really great three point shooters on the team, but the only guys who shot a good percentage were Janning (5-9) and Atchley (3-5)
not so good 3 pt shooting tonight:

    Scheyer (2-9)
    McNeal (1-5)
    Faye (2-7)
    Roby (0-2)
    Harris (2-6)

We also had 3 guys with 5 fouls, Faye, Sullivan and McNeal with 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter, so that certainly didn't help.
Also Vipers went 14-21 from FT line and Energy 27-34.

That's 45 points on 43 shots. Had they shot 22-43 on two pointers that would be over 50%, but only 44 points.

True, but at this time of year they will never get a normal TV time slot (like a day game on the weekend) much less than a primetime slot.

Partly because there is no way the NBA lets them be on the air at the same time as an NBA playoff game. On top of that they are competing against the NFL Draft, NHL playoffs, and MLB regular season.

Perhaps if the NBDL gets more of a history and becomes more like the MLB minors where every NBA team has a lower league team, the NBA will be smart and put the NBDL finals on before afternoon NBA playoff games. The league just has not been around long enough to devote those resources if "half the NBA teams are losing money".

They shot 22/37 for 59.4% from 2 pointers tonight. If they maintained that percentage for 43 shots they would've scored 51 pts.

I see your point, but also shooting within the arc would've allowed for more free throws to be shot. They shot 13 less free throws than the Energy, and had they taken it inside more they could've drawn more fouls.

Of course this was going by the box score, the game just started. I can get a better idea from watching the game.

I understand the reason that a lot of other events are happening on TV as I read this earlier today: http://www.ridiculousupside.com/201...etween-iowa-energy-rgv-vipers-will-be-decided
They wouldn't have needed any additional resources to air it live on futurecast, what they air most of the games on, unless it's on Versus, during the season on the computer for free. They don't normally have ads on futurecast for commercial breaks but could've added them for the finals to generate some more money. They were airing the semifinals on futurecast the night of NBA playoffs which I don't imagine hurt any of the revenue for the NBA.

I completely forgot that the Texas Legends play down the road from me. I need to buy some tickets next year - maybe I'll catch a few RGV games.

Chris Finch is an absolute master with what he does with GB's national team. He is by far and away a better coach than any name that has been mentioned that the Rockets are looking at.

They should air the game live indeed. However, is this really a surprise? Even the NBA Finals were aired on a 5-8 hour tape delay up until the mid 1980s.
