To answer the question, when I was 10 or so which was over 25 years ago, southern middle Tennessee went about 10 days in a row where the temperature didn't get above 15 degrees and with the wind chill, it would be like 5 or 10 below. The news people and weathermen would always say for people to stay home and not go outside as it was "dangerously cold".

This. Swoly is the only poster I have ever put on ignore. And that says a lot for a BBS with the likes of basso and bigtexxx running around.

On topic, I lived in Montana for a couple of years and saw some subzero days, but the coldest I've ever felt was in Galveston. It was right after Christmas and I had just gotten a new surfboard. Unfortunately, it didn't come with a wetsuit. The air temperature was probably in the 40s or 50s. I couldn't wait to try out the board and paddled out. I lasted about 45 minutes until I lost muscular control. I got back in the car with the heat turned up full and literally shook uncontrollably for over an hour. The whole car was rocking.

Then why post in the thread jackass -- 'f'n cold' is not an accurate measure of temperature.

I need to revise my original post. The coldest I have EVER been was 5am formation in February when I was in the Army at Ft. Sill in SW Oklahoma (EDIT - this was in 2002). I have no idea what the temperature actually was, but the wind made me want to die. It was meaner than all the drill sergeants put together. I've traveled quite a bit, and I've witnessed some fairly extreme weather, but to this day I've never been as cold as I was then.

I was completely miserable. All the chain link fences looked like this:

The only thing I can say about weather like that is God Bless SE Texas.

I concur. He is the only person I have on ignore as well.

I lived in Chicago and the weekend I graduated from boot camp it was -20 to -30 with wind chills around -60 to -65. When they don't make you do anything in boot camp because it is so cold, then you know it is ****ing cold. We would literally march to eat and that was about it.

dude, I used to have accurate records of the real feel/wind speed temps etc :) .

But then I went to Mexico  and they got all screwed up  and converted to the Actual Temperature which isn't the same  .

Then I was off to Europe and those numbers got converted to Celsius so now everything is

I lived in Chicago before moving to Houston and it would snow every winter. I remember having to walk 3 blocks to school every morning in the dark, wind blowing in my face.
