So what does a potent offense combined with an decent/average defense give us?

    See 2009 season.

Meanwhile the Jets, another 9-7 that actually went to the playoffs, felt the need to go out and aggressively try to improve. They didn't sit back and say, "well we've got a good defense and the best CB in the league so we don't need to do anything there". No, they still decided to go out and sign Cromartie instead of just drafting Kyle Wilson and sticking a rookie out there as a starter.

Yes, a 9-7 team that had the best pass defense last year went out and tried to upgrade their secondary while we let our best CB go and replaced him with a hopelessly overwhelmed rookie. I wonder why one of those teams finished 11-5 and is in the playoffs while the other team dropped to 6-10.

I mean, I was no fan of Dunta, but Kareem Jackson makes him look like Rod Woodson. If they weren't going to bring him back, they should have had a legitimate plan to replace him instead of casually pursuing Leigh Bodden and drafting the "most NFL ready CB" who wasn't ready for the NFL.

Didn't realize the Texans offense was so elite over the last three seasons.

Everybody know that what matters most is how many yards you gain, not how many points you score.

Top 10 in points scored is bad? Just imagine if we had a defence that caused turnovers we could have scored even more.

No, it's very good. It just isn't "elite" which is a term you hear thrown around. When Bob McNair talks about our "Top 5" offense, he's obviously referring to the number of yards we gain which I feel is the wrong way to look at it. I'd rather have a Top 5 scoring offense.

And it's easier to rack up more yards when you're constantly playing from behind and throwing the ball on every play. Of the teams in the Top 10 in total yards, only 5 are in the playoffs.

Nothing makes you elite. . . like not having David Carr as your starting Quarterback

Might be talking about Pollard; MJ asked Kubiak during his conference if he had talked to Pollard today.

I could give a rip about any of those numbers beyond 6-10.

:) I just noticed that too. The overall points per season shot up by 100 by cutting him.

Mario, Owen, Arian, Demeco, Pollard, or Leach.

Pollard seems convincing enough right now on his show on 610. Innes asked Bernard if he would take a fair offer in Houston or slightly higher offer from Cleveland, to which he replied that Houston is his first choice and if the money was reasonable he would be here.

I think MJ has been posting here and on his blog about how he feels that Mario is a terrible fit in the 3-4 scheme. I'll go see if I can dig up some quotes/tweets/whatever.

I'm going to take a few stabs at that.

    Vonta Leach
    Owen Daniels
    Amobi Okoye
    Bernard Pollard

Pollard or Okoye prominent? I dont know. So I'll eliminate it to Leach and Daniels out of those four. Leach's contract is up.(Mentioned that on his twitter)

Dark horse guesses: A. Smith, K. Walter, J. Jones, D. Brown

Okoye should be gone even if they stick with the 4-3 defense. Daniels or Pollard would be my guess.

Mario didn't seem to excited about a change to a 3-4 and Kubes didn't seem sure Mario would be all that happy to make that move.

I'm not sure what they could get for Mario tradewise, but I'd be happy with at least a 2nd or 3rd. Bottom line, if he doesn't want to make the change he can follow all of the season ticket holders and more than half this BBS out the door to another team.

I think you can get a first rd pick for him easy, dude is a REALLY good player and in the right system/coach he could be great. If you can get multiple high picks for Mario, you have to consider it at least.
