I think there is more of a chance that Drew Gooden is going to be rookie of the year. He is going to put up some extremely solid numbers. Some may think this is sort of a stretch, but I would not be surprised to see him put up Duncanesque numbers this season.

If not Yao, then Drew Gooden has my vote.

To me, he seem the most NBA ready. He has a very mature game.

DavidS ..... hit the nail on the head. Gooden looked incredible last night.

He was a board-crashing, offensive rebounding, jump-hooking nightmare for the Rockets.

Hey, I'm a Kansas guy, but I had no idea that he'd be ready to parlay an enormous summer league game into the visage I saw last night.

Look for Gooden to be standing tall by the end of the year.

I too was very suprised at Gooden's performance. The summer league had Gooden and Griffin evenly stacked, but this pre-season opener was very much a different story.

I'll root for Yao as ROY but as a center who (should? will?) have limited minutes (maybe 24 mpg), I don't know if he'll have the opportunity to grab the award.

Remember Eduardo Najera had a 24 pt effort against us in the 2000 pre-season. But I do think Gooden will be very good.

Unfortunately, ROY is Jay Williams' to lose. And he might.

I'll go out on a shaky limb and say DeJuan Wagner will get ROY. His father was a player, from what I've read, he adjusts well, doesn't repeat mistakes, etc.

It's possible since he and Darius are probably the only scoring options that the Cavs have.

    ROX,

Those mid-draft guys make me nervous. Guys like Drew Gooden,
Dajuan Wagner and Caron Buttler seem to always surprise people.
They're solid, all-around players. Sorta like Elton Brand; not much hype.
    Just very good.

I hope Yao just blows away the field.

i don't see how anyone could consider dejuan wagner a surprise. if anyone has watched that kid play, they would know that he is THE REAL DEAL. he is iverson with a little less quickness, a lot more strength, just as much offensive explosion, and a better jump shot. he is the REAL m.f'n DEAL.

honestly, even though i'm a rocket fan, i expect wagner to win it comfortably.
