Evidence that Hakeem and Akeem whipped Jordan's Bulls

That's walking a fine line in this thread. This thread has a bit of 'ifs' in it. Maybe 'ifs' are a little more justifiable than you think.

nobody seems to have posted these hakeem/mj games that exist on youtube so i'll gladly do the honors. hakeem dismantles the bulls in nearly all of them.

this one is the whole game and it's a must-watch for any die hard rockets fan out there. mad max plays some great defense on mj holding him well below his averages. hakeem plays some excellent defense by clogging the lane, covering pick-and-rolls and roaming all over the court.

this game (highlights) is from 1997. barkley's out, as is rodman. i remember this game really well and hakeem, despite fasting (no food or drinks from dawn till sunset), absolutely destroys the bulls.

this is from the 1996 season (full game) where we had a ton of injuries. drexlers plays some great defense on jordan holding him to 7/26 shooting. we were missing several key players and that's the main reason we lost. also, jordan shows a lot of love to hakeem in this one. i think he says something along the lines of, "hakeem is a 6'9" version of myself." jordan really knew the value of the dream.

this is from late 1987 (full game). jordan and the dream go at it but the bulls came up with the W at the end.

this is from early 1987 (full game as well). rockets come up with a big win at the old chicago stadium thanks to some great performances by sampson, the dream and robert reid. jordan scored 43 points but took 43 shots to do so. the dream also swats his shot several times in this one.

 

All of us should just be happy the rockets won 2 championships. Jordan or no Jordan they can't take that away from us.

 

The better team is the one who wins the championship in June, no ifs ands or buts. You play for that trophy at the end of the year that says you are the world champs. The only way the Rockets will get the recognition of beating the bulls is in the NBA finals. Why do you think the media says the rockets championships are tainted because jordan retired. Because they didn't think the rockets could beat the bulls in the finals. When it came to the finals the bulls took on all comers. They didn't worry about how they match up against a team. that's why they're 6-0 in the finals. They beat all the the teams that beat the rockets in the playoffs easily. The better team is not found out in the regular season, only in the playoffs. That's the way it's always has been.

My thoughts too. It's a shame it never played out that way.

Basketball is a game of matchups. One series can change how the dominoes fall for the whole post-season.

 

take out the 2001 game and those 2 went 10-10 over a 10 year stretch of their real careers, most of the years being split, owned? not really, would have certainly made an interesting series if the 2 could have met a few times.

 

Why did you bring Jamario Moon into this, I am offended... I know his defence sucks now, but it was ok during his rookie season in Toronto

 

What REALLY SUCKS is that in NBA2k11, they didnt even put the 93 or 94 Rockets teams in there! I would have loved to play the series out those Bulls. Rockets would definitely destroy the Bulls!

its because the only teams are related to the jordan legacy, if we had played them in a finals series, we would be.

the '86 celtics team, as great as they were only made it coz of his 63 point playoff game

 

I'm sorry, but you're flat out wrong. The NBA is all about matchups in the postseason. What was the biggest difference between the Rockets in 1993 and in 1994? What was the difference between the Rockets in 1995 and 1996? The Sonics losing in the first round in 1994 and 1995 was the difference. We probably wouldn't have beaten them those years either if they had advanced. Just because other teams matched up well with those teams doesn't mean they were better than us.

 

Any media says the championships are tainted because they didn't do their homework on the match ups and was too ignorant to realize that Jordan came back in 95 and was in the league and was ousted by a team that was swept by the Rockets.

According to your own logic the Rockets were better than Jordan's Bulls in 95. They won it in June.

The other flaws in your analysis dealing with match ups have already been pointed out.

 

There's no way Vernon Maxwell would keep Jordan in check for a 7 game series. Jordan would eventually get in his head and he would implode. Maxwell was a competitor no doubt, but he wasn't exactly a gifted thinker.

 

Except that in match ups between the two it was Jordan with Maxwell in his head. It was Jordan who ended up trying to shove Maxwell and start s*** with him.

Maxwell was in Jordan's head already. I think Jordan would have been able to hold on, but Maxwell could gamble on Jordan. Because if Jordan did get by Maxwell he would have a tough time scoring inside against Dream.

The Rockets match up was just too well suited to defeating the Bulls.

 

I agree the rockets were the better team in 95. But once jordan got back on top of his throne, what happen 3 straight championships. I used to think the same way that the rockets could beat the bulls in the finals. When jordan came back and won three straight again, that convince me that the bulls would've won eight in row. He won the first three, left his throne. That left it open for the rockets to win 2. He came back got back on top of the throne again and nobody could win again until he left. You can't get no more convincing than that. I love my rockets, but i'm not blinded by the light.
