I just wonder if Morey is stockpiling high risk, high athleticism guys in case we blow it all up. Ricky Roby down there looked amazing as a big SG....shoot, pass, rebound....looked very very good, better than any SG on the Rockets right now.... Of course it was D-league but still. DD
Wow. Get this guy on our team. It looks like he's not afraid to you know... actually play the game of basketball. We need a beast on our team, not weak-ass chuckers.
Bingo! I liked Roby back in his early days at Colorado when he was being projected by some as a future lottery pick. But dude is nowhere near the player that Kevin Martin is. Remember that Morris Almond was dropping 40-50+ points in D-League games. It's not the same thing as playing in the NBA.
59th pick of the draft, waived by the end of training camp. I know you're all excited about this guy's "upside," but we've seen freakish athletes with huge "upside" (Gerald Green, James White, etc.) come and go with no results. There's a reason why he's in the D-League. I'm not saying that there isn't a possibility he will develop, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Does Morey AVOID athletic players like we say he does? Morey has acquired -- Gerald Green James White Von Wafer (twice) Donte Greene Rashad McCants Trevor Ariza Pops Mensah-Bonsu Jermaine Taylor Chase Budinger Jordan Hill Courtney Lee Maybe he brings in the undersized types too much, examples -- Joey Dorsey Aaron Brooks Carl Landry Mike Harris Ishmael Smith Or there's some obvious examples that maybe SHOULDA been acquired -- Rudy Gay Nicolas Batum It just happens that the Rockets best players are skilled undersized slower players. Or the athletes just didnt work out. Though it'd be nice to complement those feature players with NBA level athleticism & length around them, instead of lesser talented undersized plodders.
