Gamestop was already an established location and they bought out other smaller groups as well like EB Games.

They will probably always be the leader in first gen stuff, but developers and publishers are looking to take a big bite our of the used game market.

The vans concept is actually well recieved around college campuses, due to the fact that many used bookstores in competition with university bookstores have their "buyback vans" rolling around on/around campus area streets and kids feel comfortable selling their books to them.

As for the Redbox doing video games; did not know that. Definitely strong strong move.

I have heard of music industry suits cracking down on the used business, but did not hear of video game publishers/developers also looking to limit it.

Definitely more research needed either way. Thanks for the responses so far!
