having enjoyed my fair share of dollar Wednesday's I have to say this saddens me...
although they didn't have the best beer, they had definitely carved out their own niche amongst a city which is severly lacking in that deparment.

the last line of the article really makes me believe they were men after my own heart:

Dang, I hate to see those go dark.

A friend of mine used to own a Brew Pub in Austin called the Copper tank.

It was a cool place to go.

Their brewed beer tasted like piss, but for a dollar on Wednesday it wasn't so bad.

That was a cool place. Good beer and relatively low key.

They will find a new location.

Stupid property owners are increasing their lease rates.

Two Rows, however, has gone down hill for years now...

My wife and I went on our first date there. October 21, 2004, game seven of the NLCS. Roger on the hill. The place was packed. We held hands in the "hostess" section for what seemed like 6 hours... me sweating bullets the whole time. Got a table right in front of a TV on the outside patio by about the start of the 2nd inning.

We lost of course... but other than that, all I remember about the game was Jim Edmonds rediculous catch in the third or fourth inning. My favorite team lost a game 7 when they had the Cy Young winner on the mound, and it didn't matter in the slightest.

Yeah, I was sorry we lost... but I levitated out of that bar. I don't think my feet touched the ground until the next day. Yeah, it was that good of a date and honestly one of the best nights of my life.

I'll raise my glass and pour out a sip for you, Two Rows... too bad the Mrs. and I couldn't catch one more playoff game on the patio.

I've been going there for a solid decade. Really sad to see them pack up because the property decided to squeeze them.

I thought this was common knowledge, what does that have to do with a brewhouse anyways......

It was unique, so I'm sad to see it go, but I never liked their food and thought their beer was mediocre at best.
