Okay, I am driving home from work this afternoon and I see this new Stratus following way too close in the other lane (thankfully she wasn't behind me). Well, I got a closer look and she was this girl who looked like she wasn't older than 20 and she was talking on a cell phone . Her license plate said "CHLVSJH" and the county tag was Warren. Just a little background info...Warren County is about 30 minutes away from my home county, Coffee, and has a lot of negative stereotypes, one of them being that all the girls in that county immediately get married after they got out of high school. Add to the fact that it is considered quite the "redneck" county (even more than Coffee & that is saying alot) and you might see where I am going with this.

Well, when I see her talking on her cell phone (probably to "JH") and her license plate. I get incensed. I'm like, "this damn girl could slam into the back of someone at any moment and not even be expecting it. She would probably not even think it was her fault."

Now, I have nothing against vanity plates and a lot of them are cute like this one dentist in town, "ICU4DK", but I would rather not know who you love or any of your other personal life. My God, just go to the local county fair and get you one of those cheesy and cheap airbrushed "Front" license plates that says "Bubba loves Mary Sue" or whatever...bah. But to top it off, she is talking on a cell phone while driving!

Now, I know a lot of people talk on cell phones while they are driving, but I think this is a very dangerous thing to do. Yes, I have done this a couple of times, but I have tried to keep it to a bare minimum. As a matter of fact, I only have a cell phone to use for in emergencies (when I get stranded or whatever). I think I have heard some states having laws against talking on cell phones while driving, but it seems like it is very few states that have this law. Is there anyone else who feels that it should be a law all across the country not to talk on your cell phone while you are driving? To me, it is another classic example of not being considerate of the other drivers on the road; yet sadly, that type of behavior fits in with today's society.

If you are going to use a cell phone while driving, at least get a hands free headset so you can have both hands on the steering wheel.

Typically, I'll stand outside my car and use the cell phone if I need to call someone when I'm outside. Only on rare occasions will I use it when I'm in my car, and it's about 50/50 whether I have an earpiece for the phone on me.

I made the mistake of trying to make a U-turn in a parking lot to exit while I was using my phone the other day. On top of that, my power steering is broken, so it was harder than it normally would be if the power steering was working fine. Needless to say, someone who came flying up didn't appreciate having to stop.

But, as I've learned, using an earpiece (if you have to use the phone while in the car at all) is the way to go. Could save a life or two; you never know.
