Eric Gordon is the perimeter shooter this team needs. Rondo didn't play against Spain which I found strange. Commentators thought it was for rest, obviously not. Maybe Coach K likes what Rose brings to the table along with Curry at PG.
read rondo went to them and asked to leave. said he had some family things to attend to before the NBA season or something
he would have been a good asset for the team. if they cut him because they felt someone was better then i think they made a pretty big mistake. if they cut him for other reasons then i guess it is more understandable
I understand Gordon is a shooter but they have shooters on that team. Curry is the best player out there from long range. Something isn't adding up. I saw on Slamonline that he was afraid he was going to get cut. Now he's asking for them to cut him? Maybe he pissed someone off. Who knows? Either way, it's a big mistake not to have him on the team. He's defense alone should of kept him there.
Team USA gets nothing from Rondo that it couldn't get from Derrick Rose. His defense is great, but against a zone, Rondo's lack of shooting is exposed. As for Eric Gordon, his game is tailor-made for international competition. He can shoot AND can defend at a high level. Seriously, most people don't realize how good Eric Gordon is because he plays for the Clippers.
I also forgot that they still had Russell Westbrook on the squad and he brings everything that Rondo brings minus the playmaking to an extent and plus the athleticism to a huge extent. It was hard to watch Rondo during the last exhibition, his game just doesn't fit well with the international play.
