Modern NBA Greatness: Reffing by Reputation

More and More I am looking and thinking about the Miami thing in particular
NBA Basketball in general.

NBA Greatness is about hype.

Once you get HYPE for one thing or another
then you get the BENEFIT

If you get known for being a GREAT REBOUNDER
those nudges in the back and hand slaps u use to get into position are not called
If you get known for being a GREAT DEFENSIVE Player
Those hand slaps and being late to the spot still gets ya a charge etc
If you are known as a GREAT OFFENSIVE PLAYER
you can run over people with no charge, take 4 steps, change pivot feet, palm ball, etc [not to mention you miss a shot it must be a foul because u too good to simply miss a shot[

The Reffing by Reputation is the major problem of the NBA

I think this is why people want STARS more than anything else
When you have STARS your team, your team is more Ref Friendly
