Bosh-Raptors Sign and Trade Deal losing luster

Sure I can. I am on his side. i dont like our fanbase being played though for other teams. If it turns out he is playing the Rockets to get a Miami or Bulls sign and trade? Then what difference does it make? I am merely stating ours is already there? So?? Thats all i am saying..

At the end of the day, when it's all said and done, and assuming we don't get the FA we want, we still have a pretty damn solid lineup with tons of future picks while other teams would be gutted and left with practically nothing to resemble a good NBA team. We have nothing to lose in this war and everything to gain. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the circus!

 

Who else is leaving? If you are saying it's gutted, it was gutted when the franchise was started.

 

this is the process man. you may not like it but its a seller's market. this exact same thing happens when highly qualified people are out on the employment market in any industry. they will be recruited by multiple companies, and end up making their decision based on some combination of salary, perks, fit within the culture, family considerations, location, etc.

this is only different in that a lot of people care alot more about the decision that's made, and every inch of it is being covered by the media.

no reason to hate anyone for going through the process...

 

it was a figure of speech....i guess i should have put a sarcasm label on it. Basically, Scola isnt going t choose to go to a BAD TEAM....now, if we pay him a bunch of cash and trade him then maybe he would...but i doubt that would happen

Dud? i am not. Hate is a strong word. Hate is not the same thing as protecting your team. I assume you are hating on the Rockets because you want us to be leveraged? No? I am just stating our side the way it is. I would love Bosh here. The the thing is? He doesnt look like he wants to come here so why waiste my energy helping him get that max contract elsewhere? That doesnt concern me hating him at all or not. Its just not in my teams best interest to be leveraged or to help players think they can use the Rockets as a leverage team all the time. That wont help us in the future.

Has anyone stopped to consider that this might actually be a GOOD development for the Rockets?

Based on the most recent speculation, it looks like Wade and Bosh are getting serious about joining forces in Chicago next year. However, Chicago MUST do a sign-and-trade in order to be able to offer two full max contracts.

Translation: The Raptors are not enamored with anything Chicago is offering (my guess would be Luol Deng and James Johnson) and would like to steer Bosh back towards Houston, which has a much better sign-and-trade package on the table (my guess would be that it includes Jordan Hill and Trevor Ariza).

If Bosh is resistant--or at least less enthusiastic--about going to the Rockets, what better way for Toronto to get his attention than to leak to the press that the team is souring on even doing ANY sort of sign-and-trade deal. That would basically kill any chance of the Chicago deal with Wade getting done (I don't think that Miami would accommodate Wade) and will have one of two consequences:

(1) Get the Bulls to include Joakim Noah in a sign-and-trade package (or at least Taj Gibson and picks); or

(2) Steer Bosh back towards the Rockets.

Bottom line: I choose to think of this as a positive development.

 

your opinion on what bosh is up to does not mean it is so. you may think it is leverage, but honestly, what do we know? we have very little in the way of facts. technically all the teams he talks to that don't end up signing him could be viewed as leverage also right? they are all making their own kinds of offers, and bosh will choose the one he most prefers i'm sure. that's the way its supposed to work.

and i don't know where you are coming from with "leverage team all the time" - when else has this happened? when has it happened moreso than any free agent situation with any other team?

Yep... any kind of "leaked" "information" out there at this time is most likely given to sportswriters by either teams or agents of players for their own purpose.

I view this as one of those arranged marriages where you're not exactly thrilled about the wedding, but you quickly learn to love the one you're with. (Arranged marriages have a much lower divorce rate, too!)

 

Toronto is trying to put pressure on trading teams to give them more. That's it. It could be good for the Rockets.

Yep Houston teams all the time get used for leverage. We are th first to give Bosh what he wants so we set the bar. Thats leverage he took to every meeting after. He didnt even give us the consideration of returning for a formal meeting like he gave evry other team. You dont hear anyone talking about us being considered still despite the biggest contract and meeting his demands he is still leaning to get this deal done for Wade and himself to go join forces and not mentioning even considering the Rockets. You dont hear people think Rockets are in serious consideration to get him. Nobody thinks we will of all the people around him. So again? Who is being leveraged? Its us. Its kinda obvious by now. Do we really see him coming here yet aas any of our gut feelings? No.

 

All we gave him was an iPad...and im not even sure he got to keep it

 

Do you not listen to Chad Ford or Hollinger or other sports writers? Houston has definitely been thrown in the mix...not as the favorite, but we are in play. And honestly, the only reason Chicago or Miami are getting any hype is because it would be 2 superstars going there, so naturally, its a bigger story and thats why you hear so much about it. However, Houston is very much a part of this process.
