Every time I read that story it makes me cry.

There's another one where he's become friends with a little girl and her family. She's got short little blond pigtails and I guess she's like 4 years old now.

I guess the Rockets weren't kidding when they said they were impressed with Patterson's character.

Equally impressive is how he handled his decision last year to pull out of the NBA draft and return to Kentucky for his junior year.

I was very much against this pick as we were picking into an area of huge strength as we have good power forwards. However, I did not know so much about him I saw him as a good sized power forward. I did not know about his range, his heart, his head. This is a guy who is going to give us heart. Give us heady plays and will compete on both ends. I guess this is why I am not a professional scout.

He said, "Whatever the coaching staff wants." lots of people say that. But he has the track record. He was more of a star before the current class then became a role player doing whatever he was told.
