This comment: "Why go through all the hassell when there is Popeyes?" in this thread got me to thinking about the question at hand. If I could get my mother or grandmother to fry chicken, I would take it over any restaurants anytime. I also got to thinking about other foods and I can't think of one food I would prefer going out and eating at a restaurant instead of having it cooked at home.

I think I maybe missing something because surely there is something out there but what?

    You guys?

    rather eat at home,

up until recently I wouldn't anyone's gumbo but my mother's.

    I also don't get paying $35 to $50 for a steak.

I can't think of anything I'd rather eat a restaurant, I've never tried to boil crawfish because its a big process I guess.

I guess any kind of asian food. Tried to re-create pad-thai and fried rice once and really just gave the smoke detector a good workout.

Steak is something I almost never restaurant. It's always either overcooked or way too damn fatty. I only eat it at Benihana-style restaurants and even then it is one of those.

Boiling crawfish isn't so hard, it's the cleanup afterward.

Asian food, middle eastern food, salad, burgers, fries, Italian food because I am not Italian and have no knowledge of how to cook anything from Italy.

There are a lot of foods I'd rather eat at a restaurant. Asian food, pizza, fried chicken, and buffalo wings just to name a few.

Same here. The one exception was when I was dating a Japanese girl. I never thought it was possible to get too-stuffed-to-move from sushi until I dated her. She was American but her mom was straight from Tokyo and holy crap was their sushi awesome.
