HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston legend, who founded a popular fast food restaurant has died. Percy "Frenchy" Creuzot, Jr.,died Sunday, but his famous fried chicken lives on.

Creuzot suffered a stroke a few weeks ago and never quite recovered. Creuzot's son says his father stopped working several years back, but often came out to the patio of the original Frenchy's on Scott Street in southeast Houston to watch customers enjoy the food.

His son says his dad will still see to it that business runs as usual, even without him on the patio.

"We know that his eyes are on us, so we're certainly going to continue doing things like we have and there will be no change," said Percy Creuzot, III. "My mother is here every day. She's the task master."

The family now has seven restaurants and in addition to running a multi-million dollar business and catering company, they also give back to the community.

The original Frenchy's opened its doors in 1969. Creuzot is survived by his wife, Sallie, son, Percy III, daughter Angela and several grandchildren.

What a drag. I love Frenchy's Fried Chicken. Grew up on it. Can't eat it as much now as I used to be able to, but might have to make a stop on the way home and get some now. RIP Frenchy!
