So the last album was disappointing, but they just unveiled this jam on SNL tonight.

an underrated singer in my opinion

not breaking any new ground but staying true to his sound.

eh I can take it in moderation

I've been listening to the same music for 40 years, and it still sounds good to me.

not the biggest petty fan, but i watched that 4 hour documentary "runnin' down a dream" a couple months back - it is excellent - anyone who is the slightest bit interested in the dude will really enjoy it.

His albums the past 10 years have been pretty underwhelming, but that man knows how to throw down live. I'll still go see him in the summer if they're wheeling him out to the stage.

I dunno, I go through times where he sounds unique, and times where he sounds terrible to me. I saw the performance on SNL, and while I liked the style, I thought it was pretty safe for them with the really basic blues riff. I wasn't sure about the vocals on this one but he was sellin' it, if lookin' a bit wacked out/old. Still, it was a pretty good sound, just not his most creative stuff, I thought. That said, since I'm no uberfan of theirs, I may have liked this as much as a lot of things he's done.

    If you're saying I'm a kid....you are old... :)

Just to clarify, I was speaking of his guitarist...the old guy with the dreads/braids. Petty has a good style for his age.
