Enraged man attacks junk-mail distributor Associated Press EL PASO - Enraged over the constant flow of junk mail to his home, a man drove to a nearby marketing agency and dumped white paint on a receptionist, police said. Richard Gesell, 49, arrived at the Advo Direct Marketing office on Monday and began shouting obscenities, police said. He said he had called many times and wanted the mailings to stop. When the receptionist tried to summon a manager, Gesell pulled two half-gallon cans of white paint from his truck. Police said he poured paint from one can on the receptionist's desk and computer and then splashed paint on the employee. He tossed the second can onto the walls. After throwing the paint, police said, Gesell fled in a white 1991 Ford Ranger. Police stopped the truck and found Gesell at the wheel with white paint on his face. They also found a gun in the vehicle.
What was he going to do? Paint them into a corner or something? How hard is it to throw away some mail? What a nut case.
isn't there some address (in TX) you can write to in order to curtail the amount of junk mail you get (the program you write to removes your name from many junk mail distribution lists)
I don't know about junk mail, but you can get on the Texas No Call List and seriously curb your telemarketing phone calls. I used to get 3-4 a night now I get 3-4 a week! http://www.texasnocall.com/
man i wish i had known about this... i used to get 2-3 calls A DAY! it got so bad that i finally disconnected SWBell service from my house... i live off of my cell phone alone! talk about racking up minutes!
I bought a phone that you could put an "!" in front of the name and it will disable the ringer. I saved "unavailable" on my phone and put the "!" in front of it and I have not received ANY unavailable calls since I did that. Try it.
Unfortunately, the no call list doesn't work to stop my annoying phone calls. Nearly all the calls I get at my home are creditors looking for the woman who had my number before I got it. Apparently this person skipped out on a lot of bills (as did some of her friends apparently. The latest call was someone looking for someone who had used her as a reference when buying a car). I get a lot of junk mail, too, but it doesn't really bother me. Don't even really look at it before throwing it away. Can't imagine being so upset about it that I went to the place and painted them.
rockhead.. i was wondering if the no call list actually worked.. might have to sign up for it.. it's only a few bucks i believe.. those people are so annoying.. . and they always call in the middle of dinner lol!
