Does anyone own a Breitling watch? I really like the Colt Chrono. Are they worth the price? Most of them range between 4-6k, this one is 2k. I have a bunch of stuff sitting in my garage I can sell on ebay and hopefully get close to enough for that watch, so I have been debating it, but it is alot to spend on an accessory...

    That's a lot of money.

I'm not going to tell you how to spend it though. I'm sure it's a fine watch.

I can not imagine spending 2K on a watch.

$100-$125 is about what I pay for a watch.

This is my current $100 watch:

If you are a sucessful business person, you need a great watch to compliment.

First thing I notice when I meet a client is their watch.

My watch that I paid $9k for:

Don't get me wrong. A good watch is worth money.

I paid $600 for mine and It's worked great for 5 years.

If your Into watches then hey, go for it.

I've spend thousands on Audio equipment so what the hell.

rolex you pay for the name, breitling you pay for the quality. ;)

Breitling makes excellent watches. May also want to consider the Omega Seamasters Quartz.

Interesting. The first thing I would look at would be their eyes... windows to the soul and all that.

Anyway, here's my watch, the Casio PAW1100T-7V TITANIUM Pathfinder Atomic Solar Triple Sensor...

Atomic timekeeping and solar powered... I never have to wind it or change the batteries or worry about accuracy... plus it has everything I need for my job:

    compass
    altimeter
    altitude alarm
    altimeter memory and graphs
    barometer
    thermometer
    water resistant to 100m
    5 daily alarms
    countdown timer
    all time zones
    stopwatch
    hourly signals
    calendar
    24 hour format
    low temperature resistant
titanium and so far, scruff and dent-proof

    I paid $189 with a Penney's coupon.

It's cheaper because it's quartz. At least that's what Wikipedia makes it sound like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breitling. AFAIK, typically watchmakers are perfectly happy charging the same or similar prices for quartz vs. automatic watches of the same line.

i thought a similar thing but it must be a salesperson thing. If the person i'm doing business with was that interested in my watch, i wouldnt want to do business with them.

If you've got the money to spend, and you want it, go for it. But good Lord.......if I thought I was being judged by my watch, I'd be pretty leary about business dealings with those doing the judging. Not saying I wouldn't do business with them........I'd just know that we have different values.

But know this, now more than ever, a fine watch is just a piece of mechanical jewelery.

I own the Omega Planet Ocean Co-Axial. If you decide to get a Breitling or any of the fine watches, it will probably be the last watch you ever own. They last forever.
