I have a hard time believing the 40%, however.

Well, it makes sense. You look at a NBA game and you see tons of female fans... Not exactly 40% worth of female fans, but generally enough so that you can infer than the female NBA fanbase is worth something, somewhat.

Female clutchfans are probably less than 10%. Just guessing.

But the blatant sexism on here is embarrassing even to me. So I wouldn't be surprised women would get turned off and leave.

I really admire the women here. Hayesfan is among the best! :)

I don't think there are as many hardcore female NBA fans and that is why there is not a 40% membership of females on here and other bball forums.

The woman that go to games, few are a true fans of basketball, few go to really see the game, going with a jersey, rooting all the time for their favorite team.

but you see a lot of girls bored at the game, not wearing anything related to basketball, or at least a shirt with the team color. girls in high heels, etc.

But I like to see girls interested in sports, and with knowledge of the sports, even bigger than some guys.

You know, I never really thought about it, but this thread made me realize that a good percentage of the hardcore Rockets fans I know in person are female. Couple of them post on this board, too.

I haven't met many female NBA fans...and a few that do mention the NBA only slightly pay attention because they think a certain player is "cute"...Melo and Wade seem to be popular with the ladies...

I'd be willing to bet that more people vote for those dance brackets than they do for the WNBA all-star game.

I saw a similar gripe of a female baseball fan making fun of MLB marketing strategy, of Alyssa Milano modeling pink colored baseball attire.

I want my women FEMININE no doubt. But I'm not going to "hold" women to that. I always thought doing that was kinda lame. Its like having blue cans of shoe polish in the mens section, and pink cans of shoe polish in the women's section.

I guess when the players of the actual product you're promoting is 100% male, its hard to formulate enough imagination to think why WOULD a female be HARDCORE into this? Its like women marketing doula and midwife courses, almost an automatic they're not going to target men from the get-go. I wouldnt be surprised if some of the male consultants are that off on projecting female interests.

A friend of my son has been a diehard & season ticket holding Rox fan since the mid 80's. Clutch the Bear showed up at her wedding reception. I've told her about this site, but I haven't seen her post yet.
