Scola's 20 field goals made most by a Rocket since 1990?

    I just saw that the Houston Chronicle and the Rockets organization are claiming that Luis Scola's 20 field goals made were the most by a Rocket since April of 1990.

    I don't believe that is correct though. It looks like it was done three times since then, including a game where Hakeem made 24 baskets in 1997.

    January 13, 1995: Rockets 103, Spurs 100
    Hakeem Olajuwon: 47 points on 21-35 shooting.

    As for T-Mac (with the Rockets) and Yao, it looks like the most they made in a game was 19 (12/2/2004) and 16 (4/2/2006), respectively.

    I will never forget that Denver game... I was cursing the entire time how any player can take 40 shots and not get fouled once. I don't remember what I thought before that game but I've questioned the integrity of the refs ever since.

    as soon as i saw the thread title, i thought about hakeem's 24-40 game. not sure how they missed that.


    as for hakeem taking 40 shots with no free throws, looking at basketball reference just now, going back to 86-87, the most shots anyone has taken w/o a free throw is 35 by arenas and then 32 by abdul-rauf. so it's pretty friggin' crazy he couldn't get a free throw. even if for 2 or less free throws, no one has taken more than 36 shots.

    although it seems like i looked it up some other time and kareem actually had a game with even more attempts with no free throws but i don't know where i saw that.

    I remember that game like it was yesterday. Thats the game i always bring up when the poster want to say Yao is not getting whistles. How the hell can dream shoot 40 times and not shoot 1 ft?

    Golly, Leeb, I'm sure glad you weren't able to get rid of Luis before he managed this accomplishment. :p
