First you make the page you want as a template. Save it as "Dreamweaver Template." If you can see extensions, you will see it saved as a ".dwt" under the "/Templates" directory of your current site.

Now that it is a template, select an area of that page if you don't want changed when you apply the template.

Right-click it. Follow the Template choices to make it a "region". It could be an editable region, it can be protected region, etc.

When you make changes to a template, make sure you "apply" changes to all pages using this template.

Usually, you create only skeletons as templates, then plop into the middle and content areas the stuff you want changing in the site.

 I haven't done a template in a while, but the premise is the same since DW3.

I like that you used to be a sharpshooter on the court, and now you're a web guy. Hey, thanks for moving on from all those great teams in the 90s to ClutchFans, man. We liked you in the late 90's and early 2000's in Houston. Thanks for the memories, Mr. Rice.

Make a copy. Keep the original copy handy. Open the newer copy in DW. Save it as a "template." It's the same way, man. Dreamweaver will take care of moving images, styles, etc., to the necessary places. Keep the original and just go to town on that bad boy... don't be afraid to select a menu and clicking an option from the "Templates" sections on the menus... you can always undo.

Read the "templates" section of Dreamweaver thoroughly. Spend some time reading. Make this your next priority.

You already have the main template, now you have to select what regions you want as "template regions." Man, have fun while learning.

Also, I want to congratulate you late in having your Michigan jersey retired, sir.
