Gonna have to go with this. Fantastic game but having a cute squirrel peeing on bad guys was kind of weird but hilarious at the same time.

I forgot about this game (part of a Broken Pixels episode):
    <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/p6u1RVYWkp8&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/p6u1RVYWkp8&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
Cho Aniki. Probably NSFW (bad language mostly).

There are lots of Japan/Asia only games that seem strange though. Probably a completely new top 10 list if we had to exclude them.

Looking back, I must admit that, conceptually, Myst was one really weird game. Can you imagine the meeting where they pitched their idea...

Game Designer: "Ok, so you're reading this book when all of the sudden you fall through a crack in the earth and black-out. When you come to, you're the only person in a universe which consists of an island with this sunken boat, a giant gear, some spaceship, and an astronomic observatory. Then you come across these talking books..."

    Publisher:  WTF?

    What a great game, though.

My view on this (reacting to some games mentioned in this thread) is:

    1. Female nudity is never weird. Ever.
    2. Exploring new game mechanics is for the most part not weird (e.g., Katamari).
    3. Source material/cultural references that I don't understand are not weird. Example:

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/emHpgi0QSN0&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/emHpgi0QSN0&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

(Ok, maybe just a bit weird. But this is a TV show in Japan.)

With these rules in mind, the following 2 are definitely weird:

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/H5HwtewqLXI&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/H5HwtewqLXI&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

(RC already posted some vids, but this was the original game and probably the weirdest of them all. It's also a sucky game.)

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KXIUsO2b-fk&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KXIUsO2b-fk&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

(I just find "bullet hell" games weird. Who plays them? This one also has an unusual theme that unfortunately you can't see too well on Youtube.)

In Japan, "Kuso-ge" (s**t games) and "Baka-ge" (idiot games) are actually valid genres. Here's a pretty good list of games that probably qualify as both (and by extension, weird in a "what the hell were they thinking" kind of way, though not always intentionally so): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_games_notable_for_negative_reception

I only buy 3 games a year for my PS3. NCAA,Madden, and a basketball game(used to be live but I'm switching over to 2K)

So I guess you can choose from that.

I LOVED this game - used to spend hours playing it at the UH game room. Wish I could find a version of it online to play.

Shadowman is very weird and underrated game. Played it for DC and it was on the best video game experiences ive had.

I was thinking I might like to replay this one, but I looked at prices and was shocked to see the game would cost around $50.

Looking back anything outside of mainstream NES and Atari format, like even regular PC games, I thought were too strange to try out or just didnt appeal enough to be curious about. I'm the very anti-Asian title gamer. I thought freaking Ecco the Dolphin was looking too peculiar. I didnt mind shooting and killing and violence in games, just for whatever reason didnt dig the sci fi elements that much.

Time Killers lol, blast from the past. I thought the obvious attempt at exploitation trying to appeal to the what the "kids are into these days" came across a little too sick and demented than appealling.
