Well, in between Devo and Violent Femmes and Michael Jackson and John Coltrane, it's still the summer of Cheap Trick for me- if they do the Beatles' A Day in the Life like they did in Toronto last week, this will be AWESOME! "A Day in the Life" from the Toronto show: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/72haPKQOG0I&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/72haPKQOG0I&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Landlord, I believe that you will really really like Godspeed You! Black Emperor - start off with "Lift Your Fists..." and see if you want more.
yes sir.....Godspeed you was one of the first ambient/post rock bands I heard after Sigur Ros and Stars of the Lid. Very nice sound. I read an article that they split a while ago....don't know if that ever changed. thanks for the suggestions...... I'm gonna listen to Sleep Whale and Beware of Safety on this day. Cheers.
Saw them at the Engine Room in 2002 or 03, great show, at the end of the set the drummer put on a marching drum and went through the crowd and played acoustically, very kewl!!
Another Green World - Brian Eno Rythm of the Saints - Paul Simon The name of this band is The Talking Heads - Talking Heads My Life in the Bush of Ghosts - Brian Eno & David Byrne Come on Die Young - Mogwai ......Phil Collins..... I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where, uh, Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as, uh, anything I've heard in rock. ....... Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and, uh, Against All Odds.......But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
