Word has it that Chicago is getting mighty testy because they think we may trade down to give the Clippers, Golden State, etc a shot at Jay Williams. Is there a way we can make an Iron clad agreement with Chicago that gives them the first pick if they take Jay Williams and we take Yao Ming at #2 plus we get a Jamal Crawford or some other piece we could use from the Bulls. We have to make sure of course that the agreement notes that they can't take Ming with the first pick and keep him. This is just a way for the Bulls to Lock J Will in while we are going to take Yao anyway and we will get a young explosive guard for our backcourt. Francis, Cat and Mooch with no backup's isn't going to cut it for our Guard rotations if anyone gets injured etc. Any thoughts?
It's possible, but the Chinese have issues and wouldn't feel validated if Ming didn't go #1 even though he isn't the best player overall in the draft.
Well, I think we would pick for them and then trade. Whether Krause can back out or not after the first pick is taken, I have no idea. It would be a desperate move, but not altogether surprising, if Krause truly covets Ming. The Bulls are smoke screening as much as any team in the league. I think the only sure fire deal is that the Bulls trade us a real nice player, take on a contract or 2, and give a future pick for us to take Ming and not trade away the 1st pick. This may sound like a lot for them to give, but they have to compensate us for the trades we will be losing out on.
I bet the Bulls jump all over Ming if we don't pick him. Imagine what they can get in a trade for him. Or if they pledge not to trade him, what they could get for Curry or Tyson. They could get a point guard plus another player, plus dump some other contracts. Why was Krausse saying just a day or so ago that he is confident that he can sign Ming? Chicago will take Williams if they have to and be reasonably content, but they still want to hit a homerun by picking Ming. Can you blame them? I'm starting to buy the Krause is trying to screw us thread. I'm even wondering about the Cuban screwing the Rockets. Anyone who had the sense to cash out on his relatively worthless internet company at the peak of the internet craze for a billion can't be all dumb. Acquiring Ming could potentially steal most of Cuban's thunder, between the potential radical improvement of our club and the tremendous publicity it would generate.
