Remember how teams used to double team Dream? Seattle would send a guy down as soon as Dream caught the ball in the post, not even waiting for him to dribble. They were looking to disrupt the Dream Shake, and stop the jumo hook to the middle. Most of the time they were sending a doubler as soon as the ball was in the air to Dream on the block. I watched game 1 of the NBA Finals last night begging for a double team. Numerous times Shaq took 3, 4 or 5 dribbles before making his move. With the zone rules it is easier to double team the post, yet very few teams do. Shaw almost always has single coverage. I would much rather have Derek Fisher and Rick Fox shooting the ball than Shaq backing down my center with 4 dribbles and dunking. Whats the deal?
BIG FUNDAMENTALS no one seems to do Double Teams well Rotation Defense in the NBA is a lost art Fisher and fox LIVE off wide open threes Lakers have good ball movement but it is usually weak rotation that is the culprit in those wide open threes So they try not to double team exposing another weakness while trying to cover another Rocket River
I believe the reason is that the Nets are afraid of getting a foul called on two players at the same time.
