I doubt they are going to ditch all the white republicans for black men. They add a few guys here and there, but it's just putting lipstick on a pig. It's just skin color, instead of lip color.

Isn't it interesting that Repubs feel they have to point it out when they have a minority candidate?

isn't it interesting that it's only the liberals in here who are commenting on his skin color?

I think it's more interesting that the libs attack the Republicans non-white male candidates with such great fervor, fearful that their grip on minority voters could wane... Look at what they did to Clarence Thomas, to Condi Rice, heck, to Colin Powell before he prioritized race over principle and backed Obama... look at the media's assassination of Sarah Palin, the attack on Michael Steele, Alberto Gonzales -- I could go on and on. It's the libs that 'point out' these things and try to bring good men and women down -- again for their own selfish political gain. Open your eyes.

No because that's why you brought him up, pretty much the same reason why you made Michael Steele your personal hero for a little while before it became clear that he was a giant embarrassment who will likely never hold elected office again.

And you're the same jackass who claimed that whites who considered Obama's skin color a positive were racists.

    Speaks for itself.

I'd call it more of a charity mindset, definitely racially inspired, although 'racist' is a little strong. Now, if you told me that they thought more highly of Obama because they expected less of him due to his skin color (in other words, his performance exceeded their low expectations), then that would be toeing the racism line. Kinda like marveling over a dog walking on two legs (not a miraculous feat for most, but for a dog it's very good)... If people did that, it would be racist.

Wow...I'm impressed. Great delivery of rhetoric, great message, an ability to transcend, obviously intelligent.

He is exactly what is needed for the Republicans because of those traits...

I welcome a more moderate Republican party free of the wingnut social agenda.

    Good to see

Republicans Adopt Emanuel’s Tactics to Deliver 2010 ‘Thumpin”

May 14 (Bloomberg) -- Republicans are getting inspiration on how to rebuild their party in the U.S. Congress from an unlikely source: White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

California Representative Kevin McCarthy, the chief recruiter for House Republicans, said he wants his party to select candidates based less on ideology and more on their chances of winning. The goal, he said, is to seek out prospects who are ethnically diverse, female, less partisan and even supportive of abortion rights. So far, these efforts are more concept than reality.

That's too bad... I wonder if Rush can use his persuasive powers to force some of the changes the Repub party needs?

This is indicative of the current Repub mindset... if only we appoint a few tokens, we can show minorities that they have a home in the Repub Party without having to do things like respond to their interests and concerns.

People attacked Thomas, Rice, Steele, and Gonzales because they are weak personalities and untalented, pretend leaders who couldn't think their way out of a paper bag. And spare me the recitation of Condi's degrees. She can't even defend herself in front of schoolchildren without parroting Nixon's line of defense. Thomas is a total tool who does what Scalia wants 99% of the time. Steele is a joke and it was evident he was a joke before he became chair. Gonzales did not have the mind or fortitude to be the Attorney General, he let his loyalty to W drive his agenda, and he allowed the political arm of the WH to place all his assistants. The criticisms of these four have little to nothing to do with their race beyond the fact that they would not find themselves in their positions without the peculiar institution that is today's Republican Party and the way Repubs think about minorities. None of those four were the best qualified, or even the best qualified minority, but they were all the Repub Party had.

People did not attack Powell until he put party over principle with his UN speech. On the contrary, a lot of Dems applauded his appointment. Of the names you cite, he's the one that did have talent and skill and it looks like he fought a rear-guard action against Cheney and crew as long as he could before castrating himself with that speech. Once he was no longer true to his principles, his story became one of tragedy, not farce like the others.

Umm... it's just a liiiiiiiittle bit hypocritical to hear this from the party of Robert 'Sheets' Byrd and Joe Biden. Asked what Obama's pastor's view of Jews is lately?

    no cred...

Northside -- that's not a fair argument to now start bringing up what the 'backers' are saying. Would you like me to throw up some quotes from Obama backer Louis Farrakhan? How 'bout Jester Jackson or Al Sharpton? How 'bout pretty much the entire rap industry? Yeah, didn't think so.

    no cred...
