That's right, b****es. My 6 month bet is over, and I am back as in, ummm, lyrical poet? Hmmm. Black? Nooo... baby back rib? Meh, that will suffice.

I will say that I have and was before cautiously optimistic about the puppet that is Obama. To be fair, other than a few miscues, I'm OK with him, so far. Much like Clinton... Bleh.

And now here's something you'll really like!

Here is what I am going to try out. This freaking thing seems like I'll finally be able to quit smoking. Brilliant, IMO.

I'd like to see who has a problem with this...

Fatty, you know I like you but this is hardly an event.

Any time you felt like it you posted here anyway, saying you'd just decided to go ahead and post.

Welcome back but it's not like you ever left.

    Really?

I made it a point to not post here for 6 months.

    Please show where I did.

I honored the bet. And I'm actually pissed that you didn't notice that, considering it was your baby.

    Not joking, bro. Uncool.

I don't think e-cigs are meant to help you quit smoking. It's just a cheaper alternative.

You will never quit untill you are ready to quit. I know that sounds cliche, but the day you finally decide you do not want to smoke anymore is the day you quit. I quit after 14 years. Cold turkey. I just had enough. I seriously wish you all the best in your quest to stop smoking. I feel like a new person ever since I ditched the habit.

some decent advice? take a vacation.....get as far away from those you care about for at least the first week. Some really nasty things will be said. Seriously. :D

If search was on we could find the couple of instances where you said basically "I know I'm not supposed to post but I'm going to anyway." There were at least a couple of those. It's cool though. I'm glad you're back, Fatty. It wasn't the same without you.

To be fair, there were TWO times. One to acknowledge I had to leave, regardless of your opinion in the thread asking losers of the bet to stay, and ONE more that was directly to Sammy's post, although we were both respectful.

There WERE threads that got moved here, and I'm guessing that's where you didn't realize it.

I think you were a man of your word, Fatty. Those couple of times were an aberration. Kudos for carrying out the bet. You forgot to be my butler, ala the Seinfeld pilot (Seinfeld fans know of what I speak), but I knew that was a reach. The commute would have been a b!tch!

    Welcome back.

Back to the topic, has anyone else tried this? Regardless how you feel, it definitely seems like a better alternative than smoking.

Thanks, bro. I'd rep you but it won't currently let me. Believe me, I felt I had to bite my tongue more than a few times. Again, I had to think about reneging those two times. The first didn't bother me. I thought it was apropo to have a video of David Banner hitchhiking out of town. (I knew I was pretty much going to lose beforehand. The landslide seemed inevitable, which was why I posted such an arrogant thread beforehand.)

The second time, I was actually complementing the one I made the bet with, so I felt it was his judgement to berate me for doing so.)

Other than that, the only time you'd see a post of mine is if the thread was moved.

I'm not trying to be a dick to BJ, but when a bet isn't welched, I'd at least like the recognition that it wasn't.

Although by your own admission, you did post at least twice (albeit once was a "goodbye" post"), so essentially, BJ was right, you did post within the six month bet period.

I'm sorry, but there is no process to quit smoking. You have to just simply quit. If you are trying to taper yourself down or still trying to come up with methods to quit smoking, you're still stuck at square 1.

If you really wanted to quit, you would've convinced yourself already. It's simplest thing to say, but one of the hardest things to do. Until your mind believes you shouldn't smoke, you haven't done anything to really help your situation. Sure, there are healthier alternatives, but they should not be used as vehicles to "quit."

A coworker got one. Said it wasn't quite the same, then it broke after a couple days. He's gonna get it fixed and try again.

It looked pretty cool. He was just smoking up at work too.

I had my last cig on 12/31/99. I just quit cold turkey. Every once in a while, I get a little craving, but it soon passes. And as time goes on, those cravings get less frequent and less intense, until they just disappear altogether. I think I'm ALMOST to that point.

What helped me was not putting myself in situations that used to make me crave a cigarette. This was really easy to do, since I changed jobs at about that time and I smoked like a smokestack at the old job. When I got my new job, I just used it to set up new habits that didn't include smoke breaks.

    Good luck, Fatty.

For the part about your reemergence in the D&D...

For the quitting smoking part, congrats and good luck. It's no easy thing to do.

I use to find smokes appealing, off and on. One day at a yearly check-up my doctor asked about smoking, and I said "meh, maybe a total of a pack per year. It's a cumulative thing, right?" He said the research shows every single one is important. I haven't had one since. Apparently, for the few minutes you're having the cigarette, the cardiovascular effects are dramatic and temporary. As in, you are briefly at heightened risk of heart attack or stroke, due to vascular constriction (or something like that.) That's aside from the cumulative effects.

Just thinking about that made me never want one again.
