No. He played in college (Baylor) but worked as a scout, coach and, ultimately, GM after that.

i'm sure whatever the chron archives have in store, they don't have anything that says dream learned all his moves from CD and larry smith.

your probaly right, but hakeem is such a nice and modest person i could easily see him giving someone more credit than they deserve.
