    money, money and more money.

Once he is drafted, the Rockets will instantly become China's team. With that comes over 1,000,000,000 new fans buying hats, shirts, jerseys, shorts etc.... With the new jerseys and arena coming, it is a no brainer. Also, the Rockets will have more international press than anyother NBA team expect maybe the Lakers. What does all that equal???? Money!

Barring a blockbuster deal like say J. Richardson, Dampier & #3 for #1 and Mo. T, the Rockets will and should take Ming.

You're exactly right. But I still hope we look deep into this before making him #1.

i agree. drafting ming at this point is the second option after trading the #1 + cato, mo, or rice for a superstar sf + cervicable center.

The funniest thing is how you guys think the whole population of China are basketball fans, and will buy sports merchandise. Soccer is the dominant game there. But he will put people in seats, and increase saes IN THE STATES mostly.

So if only 10% of the Chinese people are fans, we'll be looking at about 140,000,000 folks. It's terrible!!:p

I saw a Chinese guy on the local news, who said he'd buy several season tickets if we draft Ming. He wouldn't be alone. The "Money Potential" is almost as important as his game. It makes it harder for the Rockets to trade him away or pass on him. Tough call for CD & Co.

Very true, it's all about the benjamins and unfortunately i don't see the Rockets passing that up.

It's not all about making money,if Ming plays well then the whole world will want to watch him,but if he does poorly, the initial excitement will wear off and China will just bring him back home.
