Last year, around Super Bowl time, I purchased a 47" Toshiba 1080p Regza LCD #46RF53OU(thin outer panel). Around 6 months later, I started getting some vertical lines alongside the edges where some HD channels would cut off, about 2 inches from the edge of the screen. After the TV warmed up, they would go away. Regardless, I had purchased the extended warranty, and so I called the problem in. I finally got a call back that they had discontinued that screen/TV, so I could go pick out a new TV with an $1,800 credit line. I have to make the purchase at Conn's obviously. The question is, should I get another 1080p Toshiba, possibly 52" or go with a Sony?

    Any sugggestions?

Go with a Sammy or Sony. I think they carry both those brands right? Don't go with Toshiba man. $1800 should get you a pretty awesome set.

edit: They have LG too so look at those. They don't seem to carry very many plasmas.

Oh well, I saw a Sony 47" at Sams yesterday. It was nice and better looking than the SamSung there.

If you had to buy a TV without even getting a chance to look at it in person you'd go Sony.

I would sell the conns card on craigslist or ebay. You should get around $1600 for it and that will net you a much better tv from amazon then anything you get for $1800 at conns.

I have a Samsung 50" in my den and a Samsung 46" LCD in my bedroom. I am extremely satisfied with both.

I have a Sammy too. That I love. And again, look closely at Sony. Seriously.

I looked at the Sony and Samsung. The clarity and resolution on the Sony is incredible. I was watching a BluRay and compared some Samsungs and Sony's side by side and the Sony resolution blew away the Samsungs. I'll probably pay the taxes out of pocket, but am 99.9% on this 46" Sony.

    Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Why not save those 2 thousands bucks in your wallet and try to buy gold and Scotch for the recession? :)

If you do buy a TV I would suggest a LG or Sony brand personal experience. ;)
