In what world does a team have their 2nd most important player... whom is being paid 22mil, step on the court without rehabing? And how long do you stand back and watch him play poorly before you do something about it? In November 15ppg 40%....In December 15ppg 37%...January 17ppg 37%. How long were they willing to watch him be a 6'9 Larry Hughes??? These are the questions that I wanna ask Morey. McGrady was clearly not ready to start the season yet he was out there...Why? Did they have so little confidence in the talent they assembled and the coaching staff, that without him they thought they'd be in a hole they wouldn't be able to get out of?
No doubt the organization handled it poorly, but they were in uncharted territory. The doctors said he needed to strengthen it, and they were worried that Tmac wouldn't do the rehab, why? Because that is his history. So they made the choice to let him play through it....THAT was a mistake IMO, they should have sat him down and forced him to rehab ....and not let him on the court until they were ready. But he showed glimpses of playing well, the triple double etc...so they had hope. And given the fact that he played relatively well on the same knee last year......gave them more hope. At the end of the day, this is a storm centered around the following. 1. Tmac is getting close to a new contract 2. Tmac hates Ron Artest 3. Tmac was pissed that the organization didn't back up his claim of injury 4. Tmac was out of shape. So, Tmac has quit on the Rockets, he is going to do what he thinks is best no matter what happens to the team, which he probably feels betrayed him, even though he is the guy that started this whole mess by not rehabbing. So, that is my read, could be right, I could be wrong...but either way the team wasted half a season and good chemistry by waiting on him. I wish they would have taken a harder line on him earlier....but I understand why they didn't..... It is what it is....let's go to war with what we have..... ALL HAIL VON WAFER !! DD
