After hearing about how bad new years in new york is, I was wondering how is new years in LA is? How about Vegas? Where is a good place to spend New Years?
You won't see any fireworks or anything in LA because there is too much smog in the air! Vegas is always fun if you like a bunch of drunk girls barely dressed walking around and randomly kissing on you.
New York, son. It's all about xmas and new years in NY, you know that. The horror stories people are talking about are the ones who spent 6~8 hours standing in times square waiting for the fricken ball the drop. There's a million better ways to spend new years than that. I usually spend new years with a group of friends at a house party, loungue, or even club(most will be open bar!). But of course, you'll be paying a fat premium to go clubbing on New Years. I think last year my ticket was a $100.. but open bar. The year before that I bought pre-sale tickets for $50 but no open bar.
My family in NY says the New Years in actual Times Square thing isnt worth the hoopla and too cold, with bathrooms never in sight...I've been near LA for years and have never thought of going to any New Year's celebrations there. They seem more into Rose Bowl parades than New Years festivies I'd actually not recommend those 2 places and say go the Vegas type route, other party headquarters like New Orleans or South Beach.
I've spent New Years in L.A. and Vegas pretty recently and I'd say Vegas takes the cake on that. Standing in the middle of the Strip watching fireworks launch off the roofs of the monstrous casinos is a great experience. New Years in Times Square is next on my list of things to do/see and I've heard it blows Vegas out of the water. I suppose they're all unique in their own rites.
I'm going to NYC for NYE this year. And I'm -not- doing the Times Square thing. I'm not sure exactly what I'll be doing, but I'm sure my friends will have a pretty good idea, being natives and all. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm not a big fan of LA in general.
I was in NYC for New Years last year and had a blast but I was with friends and a party in Midtown. I went to Times Square before and it wasn't that exciting. I'm not a fan of LA to begin with and wouldn't consider going to LA for New Years unless CAL was playing in the Rose Bowl. Come to Minnesota for New Years. Nothing like ringing in the new year sitting on a frozen lake freezing you @ss off.
