I think that at this time women have little chance of becoming top executives (president and governer, probably VP as well) Women governors are not unheard of ... In fact, we had one right here in Texas a while back.
If Condi rice gets on the ticket for VP . . . . I WILL . . . . think of something ridiculous RICE *WILL NOT NOW . . OR IN THE NEXT THREE ELECTIONS* be on the Ticket. . . .. . [which is ok cause she ain't exactly elderly . . .is she?] Hillary will run for Prez before Condi will run for VP honestly. . . I simply DO NO SEE IT Powell is in front of her in line anyway. Rocket River the migration to the Pat Buchanan party would make bird going south for the winter look like someone cross the street alone . . . . .if Condi goes for VP would it be too guache to suggest that Bush and Rice hooking it up . . .. if so . . I would give him a ONE UP on clinton in the taste dept.
And as I pointed out, the evidence from the article indicates his opinion is not at all representative of that of most Republicans. The guy was elected prior to making the comments; so tying his position on this issue with his position on women is somewhat dishonest. That was the only point I was trying to make.
I don't think it is either Brian, but if I was a Republican, I'd be working damn hard to either get him to resign or to vote him out because, fair or not, people will use this to blanket the entire party. Luckily for the GOP, there are already many that are doing just that.
As Jeff said, perception is reality in politics. Clinton's sex scandals affected Gore's reputation as a "family values" person in the same way. It's just how it is.
Major, I've fallen under that perception. Gore was a good man. I actually quoted him at one time. He's trying too hard to be mainstream and lost his artistic edge. I blame this on him trying to follow Clinton's political path, not Clinton's personal path.
I would love it if Condi Rice would run for president one day!! I don't know a ton about her, but what I do know is quite impressive. I would be proud to call her my president...no problems there at all!!! damn..i forgot..i'm a republican...no...ummmmm...women suck...they're only good for the kitchen....OUT!!!
I have heard nothing positive about the way Rice ran Stanford University from those who actually came into contact with her. Smart and tyrannical(which she may very well be) is even worse IMO than stupid and tyrannical. As on the liberal side of the American political spectrum, I like Chaney better--which shows what I think of Rice. I would not vote for a ticket with her on it unless the other alternatives were really, really bad as well. Also, Powell could have been the VP this year if he wanted to. Unless there are some big scandals or more health issues I don't see any other Rep ticket than Bush-Chaney in there 2nd attempt to try to get the peoples' vote Any other mention of a ticket (Rice, Powell) is just PR.
Sources? Links? I'd be very interested in reading up on this. About Cheney, it's quite possible that his health will prevent him from serving another term.
Hi Buck, I don't know about public links or sources as I heard the comments verbally, you might try Stanford's web page and look for faculty meeting minutes or student newspaper articles or the like.
