Are you worried?

I got laid off a month and half ago. I've got a good degree, solid work experience and I've been applying EVERYWHERE... even positions I'm overqualified for. I've gotten a couple call backs and that's it. I can't even get a F#($ing interview anywhere right now. It's bad.

 

What field and what jobs are you looking for?

 

I'm in sales. I'm looking for pharmaceutical/medical devices but I've been applying for all types of sales and even analyst/budget/admin positions.

I've even come to peace with taking a major pay cut (no more sales) and getting a government/city/county job since they offer good benefits and I don't have to worry about getting laid off. Even those are in high demand and extremely difficult to land so it seems.

I'm venturing a guess based on geography that you are probably in the former American General piece of AIG, I believe that would be "core asset" since it's a domestic insurance business but obviously there are other pieces.

 

Yes, I'm concerned how it's gonna turn out for us and our parents...

I just find it sad to see people graduating with a huge debt....fortunately, i don't have any school loan debt. I wish the government would do something about that because that simply will make people to wonder if college is really worth it with high debt after graduation.
