McCain finds it tough without Palin PHILADELPHIA - Republican presidential candidate John McCain cut short his first public appearance without running-mate Sarah Palin after chanting supporters of Democratic rival Barack Obama interrupted his speech. After lunching with a roundtable of women at Philadelphia’s Down Home Diner, McCain shook hands with supporters and strode up to a podium to deliver a statement. But as he spoke, chants of “Obama, Obama, Obama” filled the room. Reporters craned forward trying to hear the Arizona senator. Unfortunately for McCain — and possibly overlooked by aides who planned the event — a section of the diner opened up to a market where a crowd had gathered behind a cordon. A large contingent of Obama supporters showed up, mixed with some who had bumper stickers reading “Democrats for McCain”. “It’s time to leave the talk behind and start shaking up Washington and fixing our economy, taking care of the problems facing our families. We’re going to give a tax cut to every family with a child,” he said. His words were barely audible. http://blogs.reuters.com/trail08/2008/09/10/mccain-finds-it-tough-without-palin/ Crash and burn! Really! Maybe Palin should have been the nominee?
There's a reason Obama doesn't campaign with Biden anymore...he can't keep him sober. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4TBNeNHHXEY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4TBNeNHHXEY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Morning Faos I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't derail the thread. You are more than welcome to start your own on Biden if you choose
There's a direct correlation between candidates on the trail together. Sorry. There's a reason McCain/Palin campaign together. The polls prove it. Next.
Faos, when did you suddenly turn into such a dittohead? You've really gotten on the Rove bus with enthusiasm the last couple of weeks; when for the years I read your posts before this you seemed like a pretty level headed suburbanite. Obama is not going to raise your taxes, I know what your financial status is. You might see more affordable health care for your family, you might see more cooperation between nations of the free world, you might see less corruption in government favoring corporate fatcats, you might see less polarization between religions and races. The upside for you looks like Obama to me, I don't understand you vitriol.
^ The answer is that some of these guys like IROC it and Faos have basically bought the grand strategy - make people think that they're rich or that they have a chance of being rich and then it will be easier to get them to vote against their own self-interest. It's the strategy distilled in the Reagan years, and while it has lost a lot of its effectiveness it still has some pop.
It's usually just a phase that starts around Labor Day and ends early November. I'll be gone before you know it.
