I hate trashing our own players because it can get depressing real fast, but that statement isn't saying much and is predicated by default.

 

Yeah and as soon as the Kings asked for a legitimate piece of the Rockets team he hung up....smartly.

Again...for the one MILLIONTH time....I would take him for expirings, I would not break up the core team for him.

with only a 10 game win streak i don't think the Rockets would have made the playoffs...we would ave went maaaaybe 14-8 during that streak...would have been close, but i don't think we would have made it...

Yao won the last 16 games he played......it is Yao's team.....

i agree, Yao is awesome, but understand that this team doesn't have the personnel to COMPETE with the top teams in the West...yeah, they were the 4th or 5th seed this year, but did you honestly think that we could have beaten NO, SA, LA, Utah, PHO !?!?

2 problems there:

1) Yao is injury prone now - stress fractures just don't go away over time

2) Landry may or may not be a Rockets very much longer

 

I would do this trade in a heartbeat... Artest is a knucklehead but he is going to be playing for his contract next year. He also wants to play with coach Adelman. I would give him a chance if Morey can get him out of Sac town w/o giving up too much. Like he said, he wants to play in the team that wants him...

 

I would consider Brooks........and expirings....that would be the definition of LOW risk.

He is restricted and the Rockets have the right to match any offer.

Taking on Artest last year was a one year deal where he could opt out at the end of the year, Brooks was just starting to play and looked like he might break into the rotation.

It was smart to turn that down, if we took him on we would have basically been giving away an asset and giving Artest all the power.

Smart move on Morey's part.

Clearly my stance is not popular...oh well.....you guys keep swinging from Artest's short hairs...and I will sit back comfortably knowing he is not a Rocket.

lol I know right. make me wish that the Rockets signed DD instead of DM. Wait, could they be the same person!?! Probably not.

 

The bottom line is, it takes THREE legit scorers to win in this league, come playoff time.

Take a look at any team, in either conference, and you'll see that this is true.

The Rockets have two, WHEN healthy.

Artest would give the Rockets that 3rd viable scoring option.

If it means giving up Landry, so be it.
