Another $50.00 price cut on the PS3 might put one in our house for Christmas. I assume Sony would follow if MS did this.
Walmart had a $100 gift card promotion on any blu ray player purchase a couple of weeks ago. $299 for a 40 gig is a killer deal imo. If you signed up for the Sony Style card, that would've been another $100 off and you would've payed $199 for a PS3.
I don't think Sony would respond until near the end of the year at the earliest. They'll start producing RSX @ 65nm around then, meaning the PS3 will be cheaper to make. I don't think it is likely though. They'll probably want to continue making profits on the PS3 hardware, and try to sell the console with games, movies and other services. Maybe March 2009 or so will be a new price cut...although if GOW3, KZ2, etc., come out around then, they may wait even longer. Hmm...a PS3 slim might be feasible around then maybe. You're probably better off looking for special deals like the one chow_yun_fat mentioned...although I'm not sure there will be one as good as that anytime soon.
come on pun, i know you got the ps3, but you need to play your Metal Gear Solid 4 on a HDTV. they didn't spend millions of dollars so you can play on a 480 interlaced screen!
I already finished the game and it looked absolutely beautiful. The whole time I was playing, I was thinking, "man, this looks so good in HD, I wonder what it looks like in SD." NOT!
Financing Pun! Financing! its no interest for 2 years if you spend $999 and up at best buy. with tax etc, its about less than $50/month.
I'm sorry but I just don't like putting anything on credit that I can save and buy in a matter of months. I realize that there is no interest but my credit still takes the hit of a check from best Buy Buy and a new account open. I already have enough credit accounts so if I wanted to, I could put it on one of them but again, I don't like to do that because then I pay interest. Thanks for your help though because it will definitely come in handy when the time comes.
